This is the 2018 release of Kentucky Owl, the notorious Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky, difficult to obtain, not-so-difficult to appreciate as this is epic stuff. Distilled and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, this is "the wise man's bourbon." Kentucky Owl is a recent re-addition to the world of American whisky, as the original Dedman family distillery was left high and dry by prohibition in the 1920's and its stock infamously looted by none other than Al Capone himself. Revived by great grandson Dixon Dedman, the Kentucky owl is back and flying higher than ever. This is from batch no. 8. This is the biggest, boldest, most robust release of Kentucky Owl to date. About the brand

Formed in the late 19th century and closed for over a century due to the start of Prohibition, Kentucky Owl's story is a rather unusual one. Not many bourbon distilleries are resurrected after such a long hiatus, but Kentucky Owl rose from the ashes in 2010 and has been producing some of the finest, most full-bodied bourbon whiskeys this decade. Increasingly popular and with newfound cult status, the future is bright for this budding historical brand.

At 121 proof each pour of Clump #8 delivers fire from the front and unpredictability of character over the completion. The consume is nevertheless a bogus front to avert those whose palettes lean toward a less-wise whiskey bourbon. Contemplative sippers will reveal layer after layer of equalization and nuance completely mixed to give notes of cowhide caramel nut and vanilla. The corn on the button traces of pleasantness that settles easily after all else has became dull.

The nose has apple, cinnamon, warm cobbler crust, nutmeg, caramel, vanilla pudding pop, red pepper, spiced apple cider and cinnamon.

Taste

Palate is a constant battle between sweet, rich, creamy & spice.

Finish

The mouthfeel is strong, rich, syrupy and the finish stays with you, working its way from the spice on the back towards the front of the palate after each sip.
