Miltonduff 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750ml
This is a 10 year old single malt from the Miltonduff distillery, independently bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Discovery series. Each of the Discovery bottlings comes presented in livery which places it in one of three flavour profile categories; 'Sherry', 'Smoky' or 'Bourbon'. This one falls into that first category - it's a delicious sherried treat!

Stop number 97 on the SDT is Miltonduff. A mostly secret Speyside refinery with an enormous limit of 5.5 million liters for every year second just to Glenlivet. By far most of their whisky goes into Ballentines mixes however they released a 10 and multi year old authority packaging which from what I could discover was various years back. Nowadays they have a sort of organization with Gordon and MacPhail to discharge a semi official 10 and multi year old. This multi year old is packaged at 43% ABV (which I accept was accomplished for the US showcase since all data I could discover about this container indicated it as 40% including this passage on Distiller however its sufficiently close to not warrant making another entry even on the G&M site). It is likely common shade of brilliant straw and it is chill separated. Developed in a blend of top off and first fill sherry barrels. The nose begins botanical with new feed and grasses. Amusing that its sherry developed in light of the fact that Im getting a particular whiskey sensation. Light oak pine tar and vegetal like celery. After time the sherry notes do begin to come through. Light raisins plums and red apples. A light however very much coordinated rich toffee and caramel with vanilla. The palate...well there wasnt much there to get amped up for. Somewhat harsh oak and a nonexclusive whisky taste most likely why its so well known with blenders as a base part. Sharp now and again with a swoon metallic note. Potentially some tobacco yet I cant state without a doubt. Malty with a touch of nectar. Some peppery warmth even at 43%. Like the nose I get to a greater degree a whiskey feel than a sherry one. Possibly Im simply off this evening. A medium light bodied mouthfeel that is slim however softly sleek. A medium length finish that is generally simply pepper and oak. Another helpless case of an autonomous packaging (despite the fact that this is as far as anyone knows affirmed by the refinery). The nose was alright yet the sense of taste was almost difficult to dismember and it was exceptionally deadened. Not intrigued. At $55 for a multi year old the cost is simply alright yet the worth isnt there. Because of @Scott_E for the example. 2.5 and an expectation that the remainder of the last round goes better. Good health
